Beach Restaurants on Pak Weep beach

Hi fellow travelers, we are returning to Beyond resort with friends in early July, 2015. We had a great time there in July last year and were wondering if any one can update us on the beach restaurants on Pak Weep beach. Are they still there? I heard the government was outlawing business on the beach. I have been dreaming of returning to Elicious and Mama's since we came home. I would really like to here from travelers who have been there recently. Are there any new restaurants in the area? Any other new attractions?

thanks Andrew

Hi

You're in luck

I've only just posted a video about the Beyond and, more importantly, all the restaurants along the beach – every one of them. And Elicious and Mama Lek are still there.

The first part is about the resort so skim to restaurant section.

Here's the link:

Thanks Derek,

Great video, when we were there last July (green season) all the restaurants were closed except for Mama Mr Lek and Elicious as a big storm hit the area two weeks before we arrived. Although the ocean was rough the beach and weather were fine for the two weeks we were there. The only difference was there was probably 75% less people. I love the casual and relaxed atmosphere of these local family run restaurants and they are surely a major draw card for visitors of all the nearby resorts.

Elicious will be closing its beach restaurant for the Wet Season but will be re-opening it's bigger and more Thai style one on the highway next to the entrance to the Beyond. Even though most of the restaurants have relocated the ones previously direct beachfront have only moved back 2 metres and already the ocean has been right up to them and a number are sandbagged. So the extent to which they remain open will once again depend on the Wet Season ocean conditions.

Last time we asked they said they were closing after Songkran which is 13th April but I will confirm when we are up there again today or tomorrow and let you know.

Rabeang on the Beach is easy to find. Go to the bottom of the beach road and tirn right, Rabeang is on your left just past the Sudala Beach Resort Sunny Resataurant and next door to Chom Talay Restaurant.

Spoke to Elicious and other owners on the strip between Beyond snd Mai on the beach side of the access road. Message is the same. They will stay open after Songkran (13th April) for as long as there are customers and ocean conditions permitting. Atv least Elicious can fall back on its other restaurant on the highway next to the entrance to the Beyond when they have to close the beach restaurant. It is also more likely that the restaurants on the inland side of the beach access road will remain open longer as they are further away from the high tides.
