Authentic Restaurants ??

Can anyone recommend any good quality authentic restaurants ?

We are staying in the Centara Seaview and while there are plenty of restaurants near they are very hit and miss. Obviously everyone has different tastes and budgets but we are finding the food in many restaurants to lack taste, flavour and being very bland. It's more like having a Chinese takeaway at home!

We have reviewed so many of TA restaurants and at the end of the day it's all down to individual tastes

I would be grateful if anyone can recommend some Authentic Restaurants within the area where the dishes are full of flavour and use all the wonderful ingredients that are so readily available to them. We love trying new Thai food and love a good curry or a fresh fish so are very open to suggestions. We don't mind getting in a taxi to get there either.

One place we did go was the Baan Srimuang -Chic on the Lake this was fantastic very enjoyable food....

Thank you in advance

These three up the road in Bang Niang

* Hill Tribes (Chiang Mai based cuisine) - on your right before you reach Moo Moo's

* Dao Thong (Chiang Rai based cuisine) - on your right just past the Police Boat Memorial Site

* Khao Niau (Isan (spicy northern Thai cuisine) - on your left just around the corner from the 711 past the market entrance with entrance also on the market if you go on market day

* Sawasdee Seafood (great seafood and variety of duck dishes) - just past Khao Niau

* Lucky Seafood (err, seafood)

On the top of the mountain going back in direction of Phuket,

* Muan Lai (Isan) and best view of the northern coastline.

* Dee D's Café - just before entrance to Sands opposite Smile (which although great food is NOT authentic Thai which is fully and proudly acknowledged by the owners!)

Have you tried the little food carts/courts at various parts either side of the highway? Many more local ones either side of the highway going from Bang La On to Bang Niang and just past Bang Niang.

Just opposite the petrol station going north from Bang Niang

* Chonticha 2 - Huge Thai BBQ restaurant frequented mainly by Thais and "those in the know". See khao-lak-magazine.com/eating-out/…

These should keep you happy!!
