Stay longer at the Marriott or Sands?

We stayed at the Sands last year and really enjoyed it. For February we had decided to have a few days at the Marriott maybe 4 or 5 days and then 10 or 12 days at the Sands. Looking and reading more about the Marriott I now feel like spending more time at the Marriott! Just wanted to check is there enough to do around that area - ie eating out in the evening (I know there seems to be some problems witht the beach restaurants) Also, roughly how much would a taxi cost to get the markets and White Sand Beach?

Many thankls

The reports that you have read particularly in this main thread tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g297914-i10908-k… and others specifically about the JWM are the latest situation. There's not a lot more to add to that until more reports of the current rather than previous situation are posted. There will be plenty of dining opportunities there but obviously more, as you already know, near the Sands in Bang La On and in Bang Niang which are about 10/15 minutes from the JWM by shuttle/taxi.

A taxi to Bang Niang market should be about 300 baht and about the same to White Sand Beach.
