Apsara Beachfront Resort

Can anyone advise if the shuttle service to the shopping area provided is a free shuttle service or if you are charged. If you are charged what is the charge. Also what is the cost to go into Khao Lak village from the resort by taxi.

We are thinking of booking into this hotel for a week at the end of January and wondering the cost of going into town.

Regards

Liz

The shuttle service at Apsara is not free. I seem to remember reading somewhere they charge 100 baht pp/way. Write to the resort to find out 'for sure'. A taxi to Bang La On will cost about 300 baht/way.

Apsara to Bang Niang, where there plenty of restaurants, bars and small shops as well as the three afternoons a week (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday) main market, is 350 baht each way, so will be about the same to Bang La On which is what I think you are referring to as "Khao Lak village" albeit it is bigger than a village these days, and has most restaurants, shops and good number of bars too.

on this point, would you say that bang niang is "the place to go" for most restaurants etc?

we fly out on thursday and hope to find somewhere to go at night for dinners etc , would this be the "town" to visit for food and a little beer after dinner.

Bang La On is a little bigger than Bang Niang and has a few more restaurants, bars & shops. They are about 5 minutes drive apart with Bang Niang being closer to Apsara.

Bang La On is the largest township in Khao Lak in terms of number of restaurants and shops and often referred to as Khao Lak Town or just Khao Lak. Bang Niang is rapidly developing and although fewer restaurants it has a more diverse range of cuisines with Thai, Regional Thai, Seafood, Mexican, Italian, German, Japanese, Swedish and English and more bars, particularly late night and cocktail bars. The Lazy Bar (Pop and Rock) and Degree Bar next door (Thai Rock) are particularly good.. Monkey Bar and Tarzan's in Bang La On are also very good. Hi,

in february this year Taxi corner just outside the resort quoting THB 250.- on the tarif tag. But to go just a few miles it was nearly the same. So not sure if it was just publicity to get customers.
