First family holiday

Hi everyone,

W are looking at booking our first family holiday with our 7 month son and just trying to decide between khao lak or koh samui- any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. We want to know there are good medical services available in those areas.

When are you planning on visiting as the two destinations have different seasons which affect both weather and prices of accommodation? Dry (High) Season in Khao Lak is from November to April. In Koh Samui from June to September. An idea of your budget for accommodation will help with supplying appropriate suggestions.

This Stcky from the top of the listings gives information about medical facilities, in particular Emergency ones, in and Around Khao Lak tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g297914-i10908-k… There is a similar one from the Koh Samui Forum at tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g293918-i7560-k5…

Hello Jennifer,

We have travelled to Thailand many times (our sons first trip was at 7 months as incidently). This year my son fell ill in KS and we struggled to find a doctor. Our only option was to take him to the hospital, but it was late at night and we were travelling to Khao Lak early the next morning. We waited to reach Khao Lak as we knew he'd be able to see Dr Chusak (who is the lovliest doctor ever).... to cut a very long story short we saw him, he remembered our son from last year (he had croup of all things) but this year he had a fever and rash. Dr Chusak didn't even charge us this time around! He is wonderful and caring and comes highly recommended.

The surgery is CLOSED on a Sunday though.

Happy travels
