Mai Khao Lak and the wet season

Hi am thinking of staying in Khao Lak from september 27th - 2 October and was just wondering how much is open. Stayed there in January and it was fantastic. Has anyone just returned from there recently? would I be better going somewhere else?

Thanks

As you will see from the recent pics in this link tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g297914-i10908-k… all the restaurants etc. on the beach from just north of the Mai to the creek across to the Beyond (and indeed any on the beach on all Khao Lak's public beaches) have been removed. Recent reports say that some are in the process of relocating back on to private land just north of the Mai and at the southern end. Whether they will be open when you are thinking of going is not known at this stage. Bear in mind the comment above about all Khao Lak's beaches if you consider a resort elsewhere on another beach as there will be no restaurants directly on any beach. Only those that already were or have relocated back on to private land. So if you are looking for a beachfront restaurant with easy access to restaurants, not necessarily on the beach, in the evening then you should consider, Bang Niang, Bang La On/Nang Thong Beach or Khao Lak (South) Beach.
