Tesco

We are a family of 11 arriving in 2 weeks & we are staying in a private villa, can anyone tell me how far away the nearest tesco is? We will need to stock up on quite a few essentials & think it will be cheaper & more economical to go to tesco rather than the seven eleven.

Thanks in advance 👍

The nearest Tesco Lotus of any size is in Thai Mueang about 25km south of Khao Lak. It is on your right as you approach Thai Mueang, the second main town you reach after leaving Phuket. There is a smaller Tesco Lotus Local in Baan Muang about 20km north of Khao Lak on your left after you pass the road down to the Tsunami Memorial and ferry for Koh Kho Khao.

Having said that whilst there are a number of 711s in various parts pf Khao Lak, there are also independent supermarkets, most noticeably the Nang Thong Supermarket, Andaman Supermarket and Khao Lak Supermarket all within a hundred metres or so of each other in the main township of Bang La On, that sell as wide a range of goods as the aforementioned Tescos and in some product lines as cheap if not cheaper. You should not discount the 711s either for basics.

If you really want to do a "big shop" then a day trip to either the main Tesco Lotus Superstore on the Airport Bypass Road on Phuket or the vast Super Cheap recently rebuilt "Super Warehouse" on the main road into Phuket Town is worth it.

You need look no further than the three afternoons a week (Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays) Bang Niang Market (entrance opposite the Police Boat) or the daily Bang Niang Market 10 minutes up the road and on your right next to the Khuk Khak Bus Station or fresh fruit and veg (much cheaper than the supermarkets and greater choice) and meat and fish if you are self-catering.

7-11's in thailand are not priced the same as in the US. actually quite competitive pricing as opposed to simply the basics to draw you in like the US versions, then everything else way overpriced.

should suffice for most needs
