Scrub diving

Hi everyone. We are going to khao Luk in January . My husband has not dived for 35 odd years. We are only there for 4 days and he would love ,to do it again. Especially that it is one of the most special places in the world. Given your possible experience , might he have to do a refresher course first . Also there must be loads of places that do it . Who would would you recommend.

Thanks

Lucy

Not being a diver I would have thought your husband would want a refresher for SCUBA diving even if he didn't need one. There are a number of Dive Centres in Khao LAK. You may wish to contact Khao Lak Dive & Sail at http://thailanddiveandsail.com/ for advice and dives that he could take part in.

You should definitely talk to the dive shop and see what they recommend before getting there, since you only have 4 days there. You would want to have everything arranged beforehand.

I've heard good reviews from Wicked Diving. http://wickeddiving.com/

My husband has often elected to have a refresher course but then we have had plenty of holiday days to organise this. Its not as straight-forward to organise as you might think and usually involves a morning spent at the dive centre pool then the beach with a 'rest day' dive master. IMHO this would be a waste of your time in Khao Lak if you only have four days.

Your husband might want to consider doing his refresher here in the UK before you travel so you can make the most of your holiday days; Dive centres are easier to find here than you might think. That way, if he is still a little nervous/apprehensive he could choose to dive 1-to-1 with a dive master when he is away and get the best from his dive opportunity.

Even in Thailand your first refreshers will be in a swimming pool. Do these in the UK, so you will take full advantage of your time in Thailand.

Go Scuba or Chrystal Seas in Norwich.
