Khao Lak is a very family oriented destination but you should be aware if you are not already that September is staistically the wettest month of the year on the West (Andaman) Coast which includes Phuket and Khao Lak. Have you looked at the recent reviews of the Seaview since it transferred to Centara in January?
Yes I have read the reviews. Still trying to decide which area would be better. We ideally want somewhere to relax with fab pools and water slides and a market that sells clothes souvenirs etc close by. We won't be doing a lot of touristy things maybe just a couple of things. It's more about relaxing and being stress free! 😃
The nearest market to the Seaview which is in Bang La On the main township of Khao Lak with most restaurants, bars and shops on your doorstep is the 3 afternoons a week (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday) market in Bang Niang, 10 minutes up the road by taxi. Here there are about 200 stalls selling everything from food (fresh or cooked) to housewares to souvenirs. Open from 2pm to 7pm.
I am loathe to recommend booking accommodation that we have never stayed in even though I am very familiar with the Seaview. There have been comparatively few recent reports since the takeover in January by the Centara Group and most of the negatives are about staff training. Taking those into account compared to the cost and location of alternative accommodation I'm afraid it's your decision.
