Low key accommodation in or near Khao Lak

I will be spending 3 nights in Khao Lak on our way back to Phuket from Khao Sok, in early January for myself, husband and 2 kids ages 8&9. We're looking for low key, maybe bungalow style accommodation, and don't want anything too "resorty" or developed. No kids club necessary. Beachfront and pool would be nice. The Haadson looks to be in line with what we're looking for but it's full. Cost wise we're looking for something mid to high range, though not "luxury". Any suggestions?

I'm staying at Lah Own in April - sounds like what you are looking for, traditional Thai resort beachfront

This is a full list of accommodation in the various areas of Khao Lak with indicative prices www.seadragondivecenter.com/accommodation.htm

Bear in mind that early January is still Peak Season with low availability and highest prices particularly for beachfront accommodation. Try the Fanari Courtyard, Ladda Resort, Summer House Resort, Ayara Villas, al in Bang Niang or whatever is showing as available for your dates on Booking.com, hotels.com, Sawasdee.com, Hotels2Thailand.com.
