bang niang cashing travellers cheques

We have stayed in Khao lak for the past four years. This year we are going to Bang Niang. Is there the Bank exchanges booths to Cash Travellers cheques in Bang Niang. We are taking American Express cheques.

Thanks

Carol

No bank exchanges in Bang Niang. The kiosks and banks are down the road in Bang La On.

We used a a bank on the main road at Bang Niang when we were there in 2011 , left side of the rd heading to Bang La On maybe 100 metre's down from the 7/11 but on the other side of the road and there were a couple of money exchange booths on the road to the beach .

I didn't mention that as it is TMB Bank which has worse rate of exchange of al banks. Exchange booths not attached to a bank don't usually change TCs.

Thanks for the replies. Is it possible to walk to Bang La On, along the beach, or road. We stayed in Bang La On last two visits, but we did not go to Bang Niang. How much would a taxi cost from Bang Niang to Ban La On.

Thanks

Yes you can walk along the beach. A nice walk taking about 20-30 minutes, depending how many times you stop for a beer. Go across the creek and past the Ramada. Keep on past the new Sands Resort and then leave beach just past Green Beach Resort on to access road turn right then left up to centre of Bang La On. Catch song thaew back for about 100 baht.

Is there anywhere decent in Bang Niang to change cash? We are heading there in a few weeks and would prefer not to have to travel to Bang La On every time to change up. Thanks.

There are a few (if open) non-bank related exchange kiosks on the beach road but rate of exchange when I have checked have been lower than official bank or bank kiosk rates. There are also ATMs for those who want to use debit cards.

Thanks for the reply, we know where the New Sands Resort is. We normally go for a beer at the Green Beach and the Yellow Bar, so it may take a little longer to get there.

Thanks
