Hi, has anyone got an update on the Graceland hotel? We are due to stay there in 3 weeks. Thanks
Official opening not until November but most of facilities complete and operational.
Thanks for the information. Thomas cook have been in contact today to tell us that they have re-located us to the Sands. Can you give me any information about this hotel, what sort of standard is it? Are there things near by etc? Thanks in advance
There are now a growing number of generally very favourable reviews of the Sands at tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g297914-d3239…
Putting the Sands in the Search Box on the forum will bring you relevant topics with Members experiences and questions answered.
You fill find that you are very much nearer at the Sands to restaurants, bars and shops which are just a short walk away as it is located on Nang Thong Beach at the northern end of Bang La On, the main township of Khao Lak. Gracelands is very remote and isolated from restaurants etc. in comparison, especially in the Wet Season.
What level of accommodation did you book with Thos Cook in Gracelands, which is a 5* resort, compared with what they have offered you at the Sands, which is 4*. It may well be that the Thos Cook price took into account that it was a "soft opening" offer but Gracelands is not fully operational until November, hence the switch. But when operational I would expect Gracelands to be more expensive than the Sands. You weren't to know this so if they have only offered you the basic room at the Sands I would ask for an upgrade. You don't ask, you don't get!
Thanks for the update. They have offered us a pool access junior suite at the Sands - we had only booked the standard room at Graceland. The Sands sounds like a much better location for us to get out and about. Looking forward to visiting now
