It's good to be Green in Khao Lak

Some quick Bang La On updates:

Just nuisance rain yesterday - must be the Green Season. Sun's out today after rain overnight.

Orchid Cafe will reopen July 20.

Smile has relocated opposite The Sands but still looks like a construction site - not sure when it will open.

Nang Thong Supermarket is being renovated and this should be completed in three month's time. A smaller version of the supermarket now operates from it's storeroom on the side street down to the beach. Operating hours supposedly 8am to 10pm though 8pm seems a more likely closing time.

The road north of Nang Thong Supermarket has been resurfaced and lanes marked - much more friendly for pedestrians now.

Look forward to seeing more friendly faces in our home away from home Khao Lak.

Bit of rain about at the moment but we're happy if we manage to get our daily beach walk without getting wet.

Glad to have missed some of the wild seas that must have hit the beach recently. If a resort on Nang Thong Beach doesn't have a concrete or rock wall then their frontage have been quite badly eroded.

NTBR2 looks quiet from the beach. Currently staying at the Oriental thanks to a Groupon deal. AUD333 for 7 nights with brekkie included and a foot massage each. Move to NTBR2 next Monday.

No one should have to miss out on their annual Chang and chillies fix. We booked our AirAsia flights for next green season before we left home. :-)

An Aussie invasion is not successful until the hotel libraries carry more than 1% of books written in English! Thank heavens for ereaders.

Katathani is reworking the old Andaburi Resort - it will now be named The Cement. Just joking - The Leaf will supposedly be opening in November 2013.

A lot of businesses at the northern end of town seem happy with the opening of The Sands. Good to see the Khaolak Supermarket finally scoring the number of customers it deserves.
