May is first month of the Wet Season is very hot (but you will be used to that in Dubai!), humid in the evenings, still plenty of sun, clouding over in the afternoon with the risk of a heavy but not long lasting thunderstorm.

The 5*Sarojin is regarded by many and certainly the tourism industry as the best hotel in Khao Lak and has in the past few years received awards as the Best in Thailand. The t of course comes at a price so it depends what your budget for accommodation is. It is located on Pak Weeb Beach, the best of Khao Lak's 25km of beaches, with just a few local restaurants still open nearby. A shuttle is provided or taxis bookable to the main townships of Bang Niang (20 minutes) and Bang La On (25 minutes) where most restaurants, bars and shops are located. See pics at https:/…

The 4* Sands only opened last November and is much larger and not as intimate as the Sarojin but with much cheaper prices. It is located midway along Nang Thong Beach with local beach restaurants to the right which may or may not be open depending on beach conditions. The main entrance on the highway is at the northern end of Bang La On so easy walking distance to restaurants, bars and shops.

An idea of your budget for accommodation will help identify other options but if you are looking at 5* there are Le Meridien on Pak Weeb Beach, J W Marriott on Khuk Khak Beach and Casa de la Flora on Bang Niang Beach. For 4* there are Adult Only Beyond Resort on Khao Lak Beach, La Flora and Ramada on Bang Niang Beach, Adult Only Sensimar, Paradise, Palm Beach, Khao Lak Resort on Sunset Beach and Merlin Resort on Khao Lak Beach.
