Honeymoon travel advise

Hi

So we are now 7 weeks away from leaving for our Thailand honeymoon! We are staying at The Sands 3 nights, the Racha 3 nights and Oriental Residence Bangkok one night. We see that it is better to change to Dollars and exchange them in Khoa lak than to bring rands or exchange in SA? Where is the best to exchange, and close to The Sands?

Are there any must do romantic things in Khoa Lak? We were thinking to go snorkeling one day, which company is the best for a couple with one person not eating sea food and fish? Where do we book this excursion? Any really awesome spa's near by? And restaurants that serve western food and are reputable for not selling monkey or strange meats? Do people really eat monkey in Thailand.

Also does anyone know how long it would take to get to Chatlong Pier from the Sands? Our hotel has agreed to take us but want to be sure on what time to leave so as not to miss the Racha boat.

I know this is a lot of questions, but want the honeymoon to be perfect!

Thank you

"We see that it is better to change to Dollars and exchange them in Khao Lak than to bring rands or exchange in SA?" - Yes. You can change cash on arrival at Bangkok Airport while you are waiting for your luggage to arrive

"Where is the best to exchange, and close to The Sands?" - when you leave the Sands onto the main highway, there are branches of all the main Thai banks in the immediate vicinity.

"Are there any must do romantic things in Khao Lak?" - see the Top Question FAQs on the right and the Things to Do link on the left for information on things to do and places to go.

"We were thinking to go snorkeling one day, which company is the best for a couple with one person not eating sea food and fish?" - would recommend Love Andaman Tours for day snorkel trip to Koh Tachai, beautiful small island, white powder beach, crystal clear sea and snorkel from the beach. Excellent choice of food (included) for lunch on the beach. Book at any tour agent locally.

"Any really awesome spa's near by?" - the Sands has its own.

" And restaurants that serve western food" - plenty in the main town down the road and in particular Mama Tonie's Italian Restaurant just across and to the right on the highway.

" ... and are reputable for not selling monkey or strange meats?" - Never heard of this in Thailand in general or Khao Lak in particular.

"Do people really eat monkey in Thailand " - not to my knowledge.

To Chalong Pier would be about 90 minutes to an hour. Contact Boss of Cheaper than Hotels for details and price on cheaper_khaolak@ymail.com

Hope this helps.

Enjoy your honeymoon! :-)

Just returned from excellent dinner at the O'Rendezvous Restaurant which is directly opposite the entrance toan the Sands on the highway. As well as Thai it has a selection of international dishes inspired by previous French chef/owner. Great selection of cocktails too, including their signature Lemongrass Mai Tai.

Thank you for the great effort to help, even checking back in with a restaurant review :) Do all banks offer the same exchange rates roughly or are there any who stand above the others like Super Rich?

No Super Rich in Khao Lak and differences in other banks is marginal. They are close emough together for you to shop around.

I would allow at least two hours to get to Chalong. We also love The Racha.
