ATM's or Travellers Cheques

Hi,

Coming to Khao Lak next week. What would be your reccomendations to either use the ATM's or cash travellors cheques?

Are the plenty ATM's/ places to cash cheques (we're stopping at Ocean Breeze & Bhandari resorts) and what are the rough charges of each?

Many Thanks

1. Re: ATM's or Travellers Cheques

See FAQ on right CURRENT EXCHANGE RATES & CURRENCY Options

Plenty of ATMs throughout Khao Lak and branches of all main banks to cash TCs in Bang La On where you are staying.

ATM charges are whatever charges your bank makes plus 150 baht per withdrawal charged by Thai Bank. The maximum amount you can withdraw is that set by your bank.

TC charges are 33 baht per TC cashed, so best to get the highest denomination you can. Get Sterling TCs not US$.

So whilst using a Debit Card at ATMs is most convenient it is also more expensive. TCs are also very secure and you get £ for £ for any unused when you get home.
