Insects in October and prices

Hi All

Thanks for your help on my other questions :)

Are insects a problem during the last 2 weeks of October, i.e mozzies etc?

Should we be taking bugs repellent from UK or buy local stuff?

Also would like to private hire long tail at Phang bay and raft or kyayk at little Amazon, don't want to get ripped off and don't want to upset the locals so what's a fair price please?

Regards

Phil

If you have chance get Boots Tropical strength insect repellent. Although there is no incidence of Malaria in Khao Lak (which is transmitted by night time mossies) Dengue Fever (which is transmitted by day time mossies) is prevalent throughout S E Asia. So applying repellent during the day or getting Boots (or other) sunscreen with mossie repellent built in is advisable. You can buy sprat locally, Sketolene (from local pharmacies and supermarkets) is very effective.

A longtail boat trip from pier just outside Phang Nga City should be about 1200 - 1400 baht for a private tour plus about 400 baht each for sea canoe side trip.

Canoe or 2 person longtail on Little Amazon trip is about same price.
