Snorkelling in October

Hi

Will a day trip snorkeling in Similans in October be possible?

We arrive on the 23rd Oct and leave on 1st Nov.

Many thanks in advance for your replies.

Regards

Sorry, no. The National Park closes thebSimilans and Surins until 1st November because of ocean conditions and the need to carry out maintenance and allow coral to recover.

That is surprising. Koh Tachai is under control of Koh Similans National Park Authority and so should be under same restrictions. Some tours may operate but they are not supposed to land on the islands. If they do do it is illegal which means if, God forbid, anything should happen your insurance will probably be invalid. Sometimes the NP authorities open the islands a few days early but not usually middle of October. Who have you booked through?
