Snapshots of Khao Lak

A new folly has arrived on the Nang Thong Beach skyline. The green space between Nang Thong Bay Resort (NTBR1) and Green Beach Resort has undergone a makeover including new roadways, pathways and buildings:

When you said "folly" I was expecting yet another luxury resort instead of the Nang Thong Country Park. LOL Nice place to stop off for those stumbling back down the road from town back to NTBR and other places nearby.

Culinary folly:

Had a fabulous meal at Everyday 2 last week. Couldn't believe it when we were the only customers. On the way home to Nang Thong Beach Resort we passed McDonalds - they had seven customers! And only one was a child.

Unexpected sign in Nang Thong:

No green tonight, so we're off to Everyday 2 again.

OMG.. there was an excavator cleaning up this area August last year. Now I can see why.

The only thing constant in K.L. is" change'!!!

The green season has changed the restaurant scene. Last week all of the restaurants south of Walker's Inn were open, last night only one was. Sadly, we missed out on Everyday 2 but got to try the Chang Thong Restaurant (Gold Elephant) for the first time. We weren't disappointed - good food and good prices - we'll be back. Chang Thong was being renovated last year when we were here.

There hasn't been much change to the beach faces of the properties fronting on to Nang Thong Beach - apart from The Sands, of course. See them here, walking north from Khaolak Laguna Resort:

Judging by the crowds, its a wonder you were not arrested for loitering..

Bang La On is much quieter this green season than it has been at the same time during the last two years. Loitering is actually compulsory. Don't know if the European bailout is to blame. There seems to be a larger percentage of Aussies than in previous years.

Lack of tourists does not seem to have dampened the locals' enthusiasm for construction. It looks like Khaolak Friends is building a new restaurant on their streetfront. Here are some progress pics:

The Red Dwarf is getting his daily fix of Chang and chillies and all is right with the world. Even a dull day can't destroy the mood - or the view:
