Severe Weather Alert

A strengthening of monsoonal conditions over the Andaman Sea has prompted the Thai Meteorological Department to issue a weather warning for all six Andaman coast provinces: Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang and Satun.

The warning, issued at 6am today, reads:

"A rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Southern Thailand west coast and the Andaman Sea. Abundant rain, and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas, expected over much of the windward side, with wind gusts. Flash flooding may occur in some areas. People should be cautious."

Take care those there and those going!

It is day 4 of our holiday here in Khao Lak and I am starting to think we will not see the sun at all. The clouds and rain just keep blowing in off the Andaman Sea. We have travelled past 3 years to Thailand at this time of year but this is the first time we have encountered such bad weather.

We arrived there on 6 June to torrential rain. The plane couldn't even land in Phuket and had to circle for 10 mins. It lasted for 4 days and then it was fine for the rest of our 11 days there.

Hang in there you will see the sun.

We have had 3 hours of pleasant weather today it is now raining again.

This morning we were wading waist deep in water in Khao Sok to get from our flooded tree house to reception.

Definately been a bit of heavy rain overnight.
