Thinking of staying at khao lak in September

I was wondering

1 what kind of weather to expect

2 will the beach bars be open

Any recommendations of hotels on beach

Is there enough to do for two weeks .

Thanks for looking

1. Re: September

September and October are "usually" the two wettest months of the Wet Season but what was once usual is no guarantee of what will be usual in the future as weather patterns world wide change. However, you should expect a fair amount of rain but, again, "usually" accompanied by a fair amount of sun. Having said that there are a growing number of visitors from Down Under in particular who enjoy this period for its peace and pace and, most importantly, because accommodation costs are typically less than half of High Season prices.

Beach restaurants and bars generally do close though from May to October principally because of high tides encroaching on to them. However, lots stay open in the two main townships, Bang Niang and the larger Bang La On with the Nang Thing Bay Resort or Nang Thong Beach Resort on Nang Thong Beach, just down from Bang La On centre being regularly recommended. The FAQ on the right "What's Khao Lak like in the Wet Season, if you haven't read it, links to Members' experiences of Khao Lak "in the Wet" which should help you, I hope.

An idea of your budget for accommodation will help with hotel recommendations.
