How far south of Khao Lak is Natai Beach ?

We have been thinking of booking at Le Meridien on Pakweeb Beach for two weeks in February but I have just read about the Maikhao Dream Resort on Natai Beach.

Can anyone please tell me if there are any restaurants and bars near the Maikhao and also how long/how much in a taxi from Maikhao to where all the bars and restaurants are in Khao Lak?

I'm just wondering if Le Meridien and the Maikhao are equi-distant from the centre of Khao Lak where all the bars and restaurants are.

Alternatively has anyone stayed at The Orchid since it was renovated this year?

Natai is closer to Phuket than it is to Khao Lak and does not have a lot of amenities close by.

Le Meridein would be the better choice if you want to venture out, while Maikhao Dream Resort would be better if you want to stay put and just relax.

Although the Orchid has been renovated and now offers even better value, there are fewer beach restaurants nearby than at Le M. However, the Orchid does provide a free shuttle into Bang naing (10 minutes) or Bang la On ( 15 minutes) away where there are plenty of restaurants bars and shops.

Natai Beach is about an hour from Le Meridien.
