Khao Lak to Koh Phi Phi

We have family staying in Krabi whilst we will be in Khao Lak and thought it might be best to meet at Koh Phi Phi as a sort of halfway point. Do we need to go back to Phuket to take a trip to Phi Phi? Also any recommendations for who to go with and maybe an approximate cost? Many thanks (by the way any other suggestions as to a good meeting point will be much appreciated)

No you don't need to go back to Phuket as many tours to Phi Phi can be arranged from Khao Lak. However, it is not really a half-way point as it is south from Krabi so much further from Khao Lak and so will be a long day from Khao Lak.

A more convenient meeting point to both parties and in my view a better experience would be Phang Nga Bay which is about 75-90 minutes from both Khao Lak and Krabi. You could arrange a private transfer for each party to the pier in Phang Nga Town and organise a longtail boat trip into the Bay with or without sea canoes into the Hongs. On your return you could have lunch then go to the Monkey Temple before each party returning to their respective bases.

If you contact Boss at Cheaper than Hotel Taxis in Khao Lak he will quote you for car and driver from Khao Lak and may have a contact for your family from Krabi. Contact Boss at cheaper_khaolak@ymail.com

Hi Roses,

We can endorse the recommendation made by Arandora. We organised a similar trip with Boss about 1 month ago.

If it is more about meeting up and being with family, the longtail boat ride starting at the pier in Phang Nga Town is a good suggestion. Depending on your numbers, you can comfortably fit up to 10 peole in a longtail boat and cruise around the bay for a time you agree with Boss and the boat owner. It will be very individual and you can enjoy the company of your group without having to interact with large numbers of tourists.

Will send you a P.M.
