Does anyone know what happened to the Similana?

We stayed at the Similana in 2007 at that time it was due to close for refubishment, however since then we have not been able to find any information on this hotel. It was just up the beach to the Sarojin. Does anyone know if the hotel did get re branded and eventualy open?

Many thanks

Mazy

Mazy..

Arandora mentioned this in a post on 11 May.

Do a search on Khao lak forum & you will find it.

Hope that helps.

The Similana was demolished in 2008. The site was due for redevelopment with various "big name" brands suggested to replace it, such as Sixth Senses. However, it fell foul of the recession and the development was put on hold. The site has now been sold on and revised development plans are being drawn up. Again various rumours as to how it will emerge, when and under what brand but it is intended to add the luxury resorts on "the platinum coast".
