Check the T & Cs carefully of the card in relation to what the charges are for loading the card , the rate of exchange you will get when you draw cash and how much it will cost to top up the card if you need to. Remember also that in addition to any charges made by the card issuer there is a charge of 150 baht per withdrawal when using an ATM. Plenty of ATMs throughout Khao Lak.

Have a look at the Halifax Liquidity credit card if you can get one in time. A much better option or if not good old STERLING travellers cheques (from Post Office or Tesco or your bank whichever is cheaper). Get as high a denomination as possible. Charge by Thai Bank is 33 baht per TC and you get a slightly better rate of exchange than cash.
