hi, stayed on kkk island during october at the andaman princess resort and had a very enjoyable six nights there.our favourite eaterie was 10 or 15 minutes walk away at chilli restaurant run by the lovely mr. sid and sofia ;

served up excellent tasty food every time we used them.

transport on the island is very cheap but not easily available once away from the harbour area so it will be a good idea to keep mobile numbers of the ones you use.the hotel transfer over to the main land and the jwm which was our last hotel stop was good and as cheap as the local drivers.

the main ferries stop running at about 6 p.m. but the long tails run 24 hours a day.

hope this helps some way in making your plans run smoothly.

You mention that you want to travel to Bangsak Beach. Do you already have accommodation there or just want to visit while you are in Khao Lak. It is the most northerly beach with just 2 resorts on it, te Royal Bangsak Beach and the Bangsak Village and just a couple of beach restaurants. About half way up the beach is the popular Bang Sak Promenade with a handful of restaurants and the Haadson Resort on one side and dining areas on the other set on a grassed area overlooking the beach. It is about 15 minutes from the centre of Bang La On, the main township of Khao Lak, and Ban Nam Khem where you catch the ferry to KKK (and where the Tsunami Memorial is located) is a further 15 minutes north.

See andaman-island-hopping.com/islands/phrathong… for more info on KKK and map showing the location of the handful of resorts which are all at the southern end of the island with a growing number of restaurants on the main road leading from the ferry. In addition to the Andaman Princess mentioned by NB1 the Anandah Resort attracts good reports from those who have stayed there.

You don't mention when you are travelling but there is no advantage in just turning up at the hotels, either in price or convenience. If the Haadson happens to be full then you are faced with either going back to Khao Lak or on to KKK to search for accommodation. Also on KKK whilst the various resorts are clustered at one end near the ferry you will need to trudge from one to the other, which without your own transport, will be very time consuming and HOT! With only a few days to spare, searching for accommodation will take much valuable time.
