Where are the biggest, Best and whitest beaches in Khao Lak...
and is there are shops, restaurants and shops nearby?
You will need to travel outside the green season for the best and whitest beaches on Khao Lak. When we holidayed at Phra-Ae Beach (Long Beach) in June the only clean spot on the beach was immediately in front of our resort, thanks to some very diligent, frequent clean up work by resort staff.
Isn't Phra-Ae Beach on Koh Lanta?
There are over 25km of beaches along the Khao lak coastline, nearer 40km if you takeinto account the wider unpopulated areas north and south, most of which are "white" sand.
Look at FAQs top right for more info on where the most popular ones are located and which have resorts and restaurants nearby.
Oh oh - brain storm, Long Beach is in Koh Lanta. That'll teach me to post in the early hours. :-/
Apologies for any confusion.Edited: 04 March 2010, 09:05
You really had ME confused scratching my head for a Long Beach in Khao Lak. LOL Mind you Kao Lak is just one long beach!
There's a Long Beach in Phi Phi and many places in Thailand and also in The Perhentians but we do not have one here in Khao Lak. I reckon the nicest bit of beach is going from Laem Pakarang towards Le Meridien. The cape is an interesting walk inhabited by nundreds of fascinating sea creatures and as you pass the Pakarang Boatyard Restaurant with it's natural privacy you can stop for a nice cold drink and then move on towards Aow Thong Beach where Goon and Gib have a super friendly restaurant (there's 3 restaurants and theirs is the last one before Le Meridien). The beach here is lovely, clean sand and shallow water makes it ideal for cooling down. Rocks further along add o the interest and in the distance you can see Nam Kem. Whiter sand can be found slightly north on Kho Khoa Khao (island) which can be reached from the pier in Nam Kem.
There's bungalows at Goon and Gib for approx 1500 THB per night and some more nearby for 500 - 1500 THB per night at Pakarang Villa (2 minutes on a motor bike from the beach). Send me a message if you would like more informationEdited: 06 March 2010, 15:42
