Do most of the restaurants in Khao Lak accept credit card?
"Most" will not, in Thailand cash is king.
Out of an abundance of caution with CC fraud, it can pay to minimise your CC transactions.
Up to you.Edited: 24 February 2010, 19:47
Four2b, thanks for the info and the caution regarding the CC fraud.
From other things I've read on this forum I assume it's OK to withdraw money from either ATMs or at a bank using a bank card? Or am I best briging cash with me and exchanging for Thai Baht locally?
I take some Aussie dollars (in my case) to exchange and get my trip going. I then fall back onto ATM's when that cash runs out.
If you haven't seen it yet, this page might help you work out what suits you best;
4b2, please use your money belt - it's safer.
Sounds like using an ATM (or bank so that I don't get charged the 150THB for the transaction) is the way to go as I don't particularly like carrying lots of cash.
I assume there are ATM's at the airport so that I can get some cash as soon as I get there for tipping the porters and getting a taxi into Bang La On etc?
If you are talking about Phuket airport, N8RJG, there are many ATMs.
Mrs_J, I missed your earlier post until just now... very clever ;-)
Sorry, yes I meant Phuket airport.
I been to The Candle Restaurant, and use my credit card. Only Visa and master.
I used ATM in Khao Lak without any problems at all.
