There is an excellent book shop called the Book Tree in Bang La On, the main township of Khao Lak. It is located at the entrance to the Khao Lak Youth Club Plaza, which is on the right of the highway at the far end leading to Bang Niang. As well as selling new books, magazines etc., it carries an extensive book exchange, mostly English language, where you can buy the second hand books at reasonable prices and/or trade in your books for a fair price so don't get rid of any before you reach Khao Lak. We are here for 5 months so this is a vital resource for us!
Thanks for the heads up. How long will you be in Khao Lak? The whole 5 months? I may ask you an additional question (or 2) as we've not been to Khao Lak before! Cheers!
Here until 16th April, so ask away.
Hubbie and are laughing because of your immediate reply post! So...you are there and online! I looked up your profile and would love to be added to the TA get togethers. I will send you details in the coming days. Looking forward to it. We are from Chicago so the weather here is pretty miserable, go ahead, make us all sigh with the weather report there, how is it? LOL.
We just returned from the beach (at 4pm) where it was a hot and sunny 34C with cloudless blue skies! Well, you did ask!!! :)
In the Coffeshop from Mel and Den (1to9Coffeshop) on Khao Niau Road in Bang Niang (opposite the Tsunami Police Boat) is also a free book exchange, besides free WiFi , international newspapers and very good coffee!
Thanks to you, too, Alex! Book exchange is a nice way to do it, too. We are staying on Bang Niang. Sounds like a great place to relax and catch up on e-mail, too!
Great to know that we will have choices :-)
The Book Tree no longer buys used books from you. They have a huge stock already. However, if you buy one of theirs they will give you back 50% when you buy the next one.
In the 1to9 Coffee Shop you get 1 of their books for every 2 you trase in - and the coffee IS very good!
