Khao Lak Le Meridian and the Rim Lay restaurant on the beach

Loved Khao Lak and Le Meridian but the thing that made it for us was the Rim Lay restaurant.

We went in 2008, were trying to get back there this year but didn't make it.

Really want to book for next spring (2010) but can anyone tell us whether the Rim Lay will still be there? Because even though Le Meridian and beach are so relaxing and really could not be faulted we could not go back without the Rim Lay. One of the most special places in the world run by lovely people!

Thanks so much for your reply.

We're going back!...........and cannot wait. We always got to the Rim Lay by 19:00 last year because by 19:30 it was full for the evening. Glad to see that they are still doing really well. They deserve it.

Best regards,

Jim and Sue

Hi you two,

If you do book for Spring we might see you walking the beach. :O)

We said a hello to friends at the Rim Lay the other day and, compared to other restaurants, they are doing very well as the Le M's occupancy rate is far higher than most in KL at the moment.

Going North from Le M, there is still the little massage place, then the Sabai Sabai Restaurant, then across the clong or rickety footbridge,if you don't want to get your fet wet/tide too high, the Rasta Bar and Tawan Dang Restaurant and then a hundred metres just before you cross over to Bang Sak Beach is the latest addition, Ma-Ma's & Mr. Lek, which I think is going to provide serious opposition for the Rim Lay. Although further away it is better positioned than the Rim Lay and with free loungers offers more options for guests at Le M or visitors from other places like us to stay for a while. It's also a great spot at sunset.

Ma-Ma's & Mr.Lek has relocated from last April where it was situated on Khuk Khak Beach up past the Cher Fah before crossing on to Pakarang Beach where, confusingly, it was next to Ma-Ma's Greeting. Other restaurants/bars have taken its place there but it is probably now in a more advantageous spot.

Hi Jim and Sue,

Rim Lay has always been a favourite of mine and it is so amazing that they also never forget a face.

Brilliant news ...............thanks

It's really good to hear that Khao Lak is getting back on it's feet and that there is so much support for the people that have worked so hard for the very little they have.

We will see you next spring............. We will be the couple that are walking back from the Rim Lay to Le M at 22:30 with 4 large bottles of Singha, clanking away in ex-Rim Lay plastic bags and a very large bag of prawn crackers to have an illicit private supper party under the moon, on the beach, on Le M's sun loungers (sure they won't mind as we'll be staying there)..............................together with lots of other romantics!

Oh for the simple things in life!!!
