best beach for swimming and snorkling

I am planning to visit in March for 4 nights I am looking for a nice midrange hotel with good access to swimming and snorkling. I would like to stay in a quiet part of the beach but with in a walking distance to restaurants

Hi,

Khao lak is not known for its great snorkeling opportunities as from the beaches it is quite limited to a few places as it is very sandy and the offshore reef was destroyed in the Tsunami.

However two world class diving sites / snorkel are only i hour away by speedboat as Khao Lak is the gateway for the Similan Islands and Surin which is awesome. Anything from the beach just pales in comparison. For a nice midrange hotel i would look at Bang Niang have a look at www.khaolak.de also www.khaolaklovers.com

You will also find plenty of info about the beaches ect in the top questions to the right of the forum page and here is a link to a previous snorkeling question

Also look at FAQ - Where's best for SNORKELLING & DIVING from Khao Lak at tripadvisor.com/Travel-g297914-c127101/Khao-…

The maps at tripadvisor.co.uk/Travel-g297914-c120547/Kha… show the various beaches and resorts near them.

If there are any that take your fancy just post back for more information. An idea od your budget for accommodation would help us with some suggestions for you.
