Khao Lak for Honeymoon without Diving

My fiance and I are trying to decide on 2 places to spend 4 - 5 days each at among:

-Phuket

-Ko Samui

-Krabi

-Khao Lak

We want to relax on the beach, eat good food enjoy beautiful Thailand. We aren't divers but we probably will snorkel once or twice. We also enjoy wildlife and fun attractions. We'd like some nightlife but would like to avoid the party crowds and overdeveloped atmospheres which we've heard exist in Phuket and Ko Samui.

In Khao Lak specifically, what is there to do besides the beach. Are there towns that are fun strolling through? Is 4-5 days there too long if we're not going to dive?

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards,

Matt

"Is 4-5 days there too long if we're not going to dive?" - I hope not as we are thinking of going there for 4 weeks next August.

Although Khao Lak is the main centre for those who want easiest access to the Similan and Surin Islands (where you can snorkel as well as dive) there is far more to the are than just that. Over 25km of glorious beaches with several townships with great restaurants, bars and shops (but laid back atmosphere) and the wonderful Khao Sok National Park an hour to the north and small, but worth visting waterfalls (some by elephant) nearby.

As Senjan says - 4-5 days? We're here for 5 months and still loads to do!!!

We just returned a couple of days ago from an amazing stay at the Sarojin for our tenth wedding anniversary. We have been to a lot of nice resorts but this one is truly special. It is pricey but really blissful. We did the day trip on the lady Sarojin boat to the Similian islands as well as a day trip to go cave canoeing, to visit temples, Phang Nga Bay etc. We have previously been to Khao Lak in quiet season - not sure what date you are travelling? - it is still lovely in quiet season but unable to visit Similian islands during that time and the ocean is quite a bit rougher and you don't get the brilliant blue calm water that we saw this trip. We also visited waterfalls and there is beautiful national park. Even in peak season, we often had the beach to ourselves at times. Not sure about the night lift... there are a few places that have dinner on the beach which is special. Hope that helps!
