Weather Mid November . . . and where to go?

Hi - A group of four of us are coming to the new JWMarriot Cher Fah in mid November. We are regulars to other areas of Thailand but have not been to Khao Lak yet. Wondering what the weather is usually like this time of the year (we had rather cloudy weather in Samui this time last year) and what there is to do/places to see/where to eat etc while we are there. It is obviously much quieter than Phuket itself but are hoping there are still some nice restaurants and some good nightlife in the area - and is it too far away to go for a trip to the Patong/Karon area while we are there? and if not how would we get there? Can anyone advise us please. Many thanks.

November mark the beginning of the Dry Season, which heralds hot, sunny days with perhaps still daily showers and residual cloud. Restaurants and shops that were closed for the Wet Season should now be open as they compete for the increasing number of visitors, like yourself.

There were only two or three local restaurants on the beach near the Cher Fah, otherwise it's a 10 minute taxi ride down the highway to Bang Niang where there are loads of restaurants, bars, shops, massage places on the highway and down the beach road to the beach itself. A further 5 minutes down the highway you will reach Bang La On or Khao Lak Town, as it is commonly referred to, where there are plenty more.

Most, if not all, should be open. Kook at this link re where to find restaurants tripadvisor.co.uk/Travel-g297914-c120557/Kha…

Have a look at the webcam in Bang La On through this link to see what it is like live khaolaklanddiscovery.com/cam/Khao-Lak-Land-D…

Patong/Karon is about 90 minutes drive away, probably 2 hours depending on traffic when you get on the island. There are plenty of taxi drivers about, particularly in Bang La On, who will take you there. See here for ideas of taxi costs www.khaolaktravelcenter.com/index.php… although Boss at Cheaper than Hotel Taxis in Bang La On (just down past the new McDonald's, which you can't miss!) will give a very competitive rate in decent cars.

Hi - Many thanks for your helpful reply. We are leaving wet cold UK on November 18th next week and really looking forward to our trip. How is the weather now . . . hopefully some sun for us to look forward to!
