The main town of Khao Lak is Bang La On where most restaurants and shops are located. The beach here is Nang Thong Beach and it is a short walk up the road from the resorts located on the beach front or facing it to town.

However, about 10 minutes up the highway is the rapidly developing Bang Niang which has restaurants, bars and shops (and a great local market Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays)both on the highway, either side of the road down from it to the resorts which are located beach front or on the side roads parallel to the beach. Here you will find restaurants overlooking the beach and even in the Green Season just past the Ramada actually on the beach.

Have a look at the latest map at http://www.khaolakmap.com/ for location of resorts, restaurants and beaches.
