Green Beach Resort-> shops+restaurants?

Hi!

I was looking for Green Beach Resort, it looks nice/basic. But it is right on the beach.

The distance from Green Beach to the La On village, is it about 1 kilometer? And the road from Green Beach to the village isn't too busy with cars/scooters? Or is there even a some sort of line for walkers (beside the road)?

Is there any minimarket (where to buy something to drink + small snacks and maybe a news paper) near Green beach? or is the nearest ones in La On village?

Green Beach is directly on Nang Thong Beach and, sadly, I have to say when we walked past a week or so ago, the worst stretch of any of KL's beaches - large patches of unsightly "tarred" clack sand. A pity as Green Beach is a pretty little bamboo bungalow resort.

The nearest shops, restaurants and bars are indeed along and up the not very busy at all road into La On as are all the resorts on this stretch of beach. It's next door to Gerd & Noi (Khao Lak) Bungalows.

As a matter of interst "today's" newspapers from all countries, printed in Khao Lak cost 200 baht a copy.

Ok... Thanks for the info!

Is there better beach sections in WALKING distance from Green Beach (and accessible by foot no rivers between)?

So do you think the trip to the La On village center/shopping/restaurants is about 1kilometer? Or more?

The price of the news paper isn't bad at all ;)

Yes there are better beach sections of Nang Thong Beach in both directions and you don't have o cross any inlets. There is a very nice little bay just around the next headland north with just one beach resrtaurant and bar, the Pa Taya, with 2 loungers and a sun shade for 100 baht per day. You are then only a short walk to Bang Niang Beach where there are even more options.

It is no more than 1 km from Nang Thong supermarket and the main area of KL, I wouldn't have thought.

200 baht is 8 times more than the same newspaper would cost in UK - and it isn't worth that in UK!!!! ;)

Thank you once again :)

Do you happen to know, do they have sun loungers on the Green beach area or their own sun loungers on the beach front?

As I recall, they are deck chairs and are on a grassed area just off the beach under casuarina trees. If you look at the pics of Nang Thong Beach at picasaweb.google.com/Arandora/NangThongBeach… the ones either side of the pic og the Green Beach sign show their position and also the discoloration of the sand there.

The nearest ones for hire were around the cove going north at the Paya Tee beach restaurant and more just further than that at several places. About 10 minute walk from Green Beach.
