Le Meridien or elsewhere?

Hi - we are currently booked to stay at LM from 10 to 14th Feb, 2 adults, 4 year old and 9 month old. We choose the hotel for the kids club and facilities as well as beautiful beach and few local restaurants. However, the exchage rate for £ to B is TERRIBLE compared to when we booked. LM have now offered us a better deal - 7995B per night inc taxes and ABF (which matches a rate we found with Trailfinders in the UK) but I thought I would explore other options for places to stay.

We are due to stay at the Katathani in Phuket for 3 nights beforehand and need to 'lose' either KT or LM and stay in a cheaper alternative.

Any suggestions for lovely places to stay in Khao Lak - price of around 4-6K B would be ideal. Also, a place that is child friendly and popular with other families.

I think we are more inclined to lose the katathani in phuket but open to great alternatives to LM.

Many thanks

BB

Bella,

You might want to have a look at The Baan Khaolak. A cottage in High Season is around 5,000THB. This hotel is on Nang Thong Beach, which is very nice and is close (short walk) to the shops and restaurants in Bang La On. The rooms are spotless and quite luxurious and the hotel has a nice sea facing pool and restaurant, which is popular with families.

That looks lovely! Wondering whether to just give phuket a miss!

Hi BB,

Having stayed at both hotels your luxury hotel is the Le Meridien Khao Lak . The Katathani is not in the same league. When the LM is full you would not know when the Katathani is full sun beds and people everywhere. The beach at the Katathani is lovely but the LM beach is even better. The childrens facilities at the LM are fantastic.

Have you also looked at Wotif, Latestays and RatesToGo? LM always seems to be there.
