When to book

When is the best time for me to book a hotel.

We will be arriving in March for 15 nights.

Will it be best to wait and perhaps get a bargain due to no one travelling at the moment or will Thailand tourism not be affected.

Tourism in Thailand has certainly been affected by not only the downturn in the economy but also the recent problems in Bangkok. From a report from a friend in the industry there Khao Lak is no exception with bookings down significantly at the moment. However January through to April has been increasingly busy in recent years so it may still be in 2009. Whilst there may be recuctions or special offers it's not the Thai way to give away bargains and it will mean you shopping around to find what is best for you. Enquiring direct with resorts/hotels may produce better results at this stage as hoteliers may be prepared to take what they can now rather than wait for on-line and other agents to get bookings later.

Keep checking web sites regularly. I recently picked up a bargain - better quality accommodation than we had originally booked at a very nice price. If nothing shouts at you there is always Wotif, Latestay, Rates to Go etc.
