Hello

Phang Nga is an area and Khao Lak is part of Phang Nga. If you look at the maps on www.khaolaklovers.com there is a map for the area of Phand Nga.

It also shows where the similan islands and surin islands are. By speedboat 1.5 hours away. Both lovely places to visit and can be easily done from Khao Lak. From Phuket it would involve an extra 2 hours travelling there and back to go to these islands. Khao Lak is a ideal base for these trips.

Phang Nga is a province with the provincial capital being Phang Nga City, which is about 2 hours south of Khao Lak. Khao Lak is better placed than both Phang Nga City and Phuket for access to the Similans and especially the Surin Islands.

Hi you would be beter going from Phuket to Khao Lak then Ko Samui no airport at Khao Lak. I would rent a car from Phuket from Budget car hire go to Khao Lak then drive to Surat Thani leave the car back at Budget and go by boat to Kho Samui. The car will be cheaper than the air fare then fly bact to Bangkok.

Hello,

If you are wanting to go from Krabi to Khao Lak it is about a 2 hour drive by car about 3000baht in a taxi. Khao Lak from Phuket airport is about 1 hour 20 minutes by car.

I think that is an ambitious itinerary but one you will spend a lot of time transferring between destinations.

Personally I would cut out the stay on Phi Phi Island. Yopu can go there and other islands for a full day from either Phuket or Krabi. Similarly most tours into Phang Nga Bay cover James Bond Island (very popular, very busy and commercialised - best seen from the water) and the Muslim Village (a short stop off for a drink or an expensive meal). A sea canoe trip into the Hongs is best I think and these are usually all combined in one tour.

Koh Samui is a bit out on a limb but if you want to * keep it in and assuming you are arriving into Bangkok at the start, how about:

* Fly Bangkok to Krabi stay 4 nights

* Fly Krabi to Koh Samui stay 4 nights (only 1 flight only on Friday and Sunday with Bangkok Airways at 16:15)

then either

* Fly Samui to Phuket stay 5 nights (daily morning flight or every other day afternoon flight with Bangkok Airways)

* then taxi to Khao Lak stay 4 nights

* taxi to Phuket fly to Bangkok stay 4 nights

or do Khao Lak first and finish in Phuket then on to Bangkok

or

* Ferry from Samui to Surat Thani, taxi to Khao Lak stay 4 nights

* Taxi to Phuket Stay 4 nights

* Fly to Bankok stay 4 nights

I think this would get you all the places you weant to visit with less time spent on transfers (and their cost) and more time at various places to enjoy them more.

If you are not interested in Krabi itself as a destination, just a starting point for Phi Phi or Phang Nga Bay, then I would agree you can achieve what you want to achieve by using Phuket as your base for tours into Phang Nga Bay, your departure and return point for Phi Phi and Khao Lak for the Similans and Surins. You would need a day for each for the Similans and the Surins and 3 nights in KL would only give you those 2 full days. Staying in Khao Lak would also give you the option of going up to the beautiful Khao Sok National Park (only just ober an hour north)

What about Samui now?

If you go there from Bangkok, then get the ferry across to Surat Thani, you could stop off at Khao Sok and even stay there over night in a tree house or a raft house on the Cheow Lan Lake. Then dowwn to Khao Lak and finish in Phuket before flying back to Phuket. Transfers are easily arranged before you go and taxis are cheap and plentiful.
