Khao Lak in low season

We intend to stay in one of the new pool/beach villas at Khao Lak resort. I understand it is close to Khao Lak town. I wonder is there are any restaurants and other facilities opened in low season (august) ?

Thanks for your help !!

Yes more and more restaurants and shops stay open in the Green Season. Usually it is the better restaurants, such as the Jai, Khao Lak Seafood, the Viking, for instance, which stay open.

Have a look at Khao Lak Active at www.khaolakaktiv.net/english/index.html

It is a programme of activities such as batik, Thai dance, bamboo crafts for times when perhaps weather is not too good.

While in Khao Lak during the Green Season (last October), some shops and restaurants were closed. However, the shortened hours of the banking facilities (they close at around 16:30) needs to be accounted for as is the reduced servicing of ATMs, some of which we found to be out of service.

Having experienced the low season, we believe it's as, if not more enjoyable as peak season. I'ts far more relaxed with more time to spend in the shops and restaurants. If you have good weather as we did, you can sunbathe as much as in peak season too!

We stayed in Khao Lak for a few days in low season and it was great. A few restaurants and shops were closed, also the restaurants on the beach were closed (down past Similana Resort) But there was still lots open and never had a problem eating out or finding shops.

This was June last year. It was nice being somewhere that was not full on busy and great having a beach to yourself.
