Gerd and Noi's

We are a family of 5. 2 adults and 3 kids.

I am dragging my mum along so that makes a total of 6.

Wanted to be on or close to the beach and in walking distance to shops etc. and NEED our accom to be on the cheaper end of the scale as my wife refuses to ever do cold water showers again - ever!!!!.

Thought I had worked it out and decided that Gerd and Noi's would be the place for us.

I just saw some pics on the KHAOLAK forum site that didnt look that great, ie rocky beach and the resort didn't look flash.

Can someone please ease my mind, or offer an alternative??

Well, Gerd and Noi's isn't what you would call flash, but it is very nice and the price is great. The negatives..the bungalows are close together and simply designed and built, there is nothing deluxe about them...but they are functional and comfortable and you'll get to know the other guests.

The beach has some rocks, big ones that are kind of like decorations, and small ones that kids can collect along with sea shells.

Without knowing exactly your budget, it's a bit tough to recommend. The Khao Lak Merlin looks flash and is very comfortable and has great rates, but is about 5 minutes drive from town. There are a few places to eat nearby on the beach, but that's all. It is easy to get a taxi from the end of the road to town though. The beach is lovely with big rocks too, but gorgeous...prettier and cleaner than near Gerd and Noi's in my opinion. The pools (4 of them) are beautiful. If you can live with the ride to town, it's a good pick.

Ayara Villas might be worth a look. Closer to town, nice beach, friendly seeming.
