Coconut beach and Memories bar

We are staying at Centara Resort and would like to spend the afternoon / evening at coconut beach and memories bar including visit to elephant sanctuary. Should we get a taxi to take us to coconut beach, wait for us, and then take us to memories bar and then back to Centara or should we just book a seperate taxi for each section? How much would this cost roughly? Can you walk from Coconut beach to Memories Bar? Any other recommendations for our afternoon are welcome. Thanks

We normally just get a taxi to each place. There are usually taxis around The Boatyard and Memories and if not they will call them for you. Usually about 400 baht from Centara to either of them and we usually pay about 450 on the way back. There was 7 of us so not sure if they would be cheaper for less people - I think it is pretty much the going rate though.

We have also found that some taxi drivers will give you their card and places will call them for you for the return trip. We have usually found it just as easy to get one from where we are.

It is about 15 minutes by car between The Boatyard and Memories so and it is right around the cape. I don't think it is possible to walk it and even then it would take a very long time.

Another option is to hire a car for 24 hours. It would cost similar to a return taxi trip and you would then be able to explore the area.Just get an IDP from NRMA before you go. It is very easy to navigate around Khao Lak and you could see quite a few places in that time - see some of the waterfalls, temples etc. You could pick up at midday one day, do the Boatyard and Memories etc as well as the waterfalls in that area. The following morning you could go in the other direction to the turtle sanctuary and see some areas that way.

hi, memories and the boatyard are great places on their own to spend a full day or night. if you go before 10 you can spend the day there on the bars sunbeds, have lunch and enjoy the laid back vibe.

go at night time before 6 to watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy great food and drinks with a great atmosphere, memories do a fireshow on a friday night.

both places are great day or night

enjoy, ian

Thanks justallie

We are already in Khao Lak so probably a bit late for us to organise the international license. Thanks for your tips regarding the taxi. It helps a lot.
