Songkram celebrations

We arrive from Phuket airport into Khao Lak on April 14th (land at 5.15pm). I'm wondering if there will be anywhere we can still join in festivities of Songkram, or is it all over by then. Our 3 teenage children would love to join in the water fights but I've heard this all happens on the 13th only?

Does it continue longer than the 13th in the Patong area, as we have the option to stay there first, prior to moving to Khao Lak. Any info greatly appreciated thanks.
