Weather will be very hot. You will welcome the occasional rain.

Food and drink prices vary hugely depending on where you eat/drink. In the hotels prices can be similar to home. Outside it is very possible to get great food at very good prices.

There are a number of cocktail bars that have 99 baht cocktails all the time. Our fave is opposite the Nang Thong supermarket, Dream Bar further up Bang La On (towards Phuket end) is also great. At restaurants and bars they can be anything up to 250-300. Wine is expensive - 150-200 for a glass/ 1000 bottle for something very average (in my opinion), spirits with mixer 150-250. Not sure of beer.

We used to spend about 200 baht per person for lunch - main meal of curry/noodles/stir fry plus a fruit shake or soft drink. Dinner with plenty of food - say 3-4 dishes plus a couple of alcoholic drinks probably average 1000 baht for two. Sometimes less than this other times higher. If you add seafood by weight this can add considerably- large prawns are around 150-180 per 100grams. We’ve had 4 in a dish (huge prawns!) that was about 1000 baht, small whole fish is 60-80 baht per 100 grams. We found average about 400 baht for a decent sized fish.

You can also eat great street food at the markets which is cheap. We found the more expensive places weren’t necessarily better food. Our fave place Everyday2 - we had a huge feast of food for 4 people, 8 cocktails plus a few soft drinks and it was 2500 baht.

If you eat at western type places like Italian or Mexican they would be double what I’ve mentioned above. There are a few very good pizza places in Khao Lak - about 250-350 for a pizza or pasta dish.

A large Chang is anywhere from 100 baht to 160 baht depending on where you are.
