We’ve been here for nearly 4 days now. Constant rain since we arrived and it doesn’t look like that will change.
Any suggestions of things to do in or around Khao Lak whilst the rain is here?
Moving to somewhere with more sunshine?
Back in June, after watching it raining almost non stop for five days,I said goodbye to bucolic Mae Sariang and flew to Nakhon Si Thammarat where sunshine prevailed. And it turned out to be another memorable chapter of my numerous visits.
Unfotunately travelling to Khao Lak during the middle of the rainy season means that you risk this sort of weather. There really isn't a lot to do there when it is wet. If you don't mind getting wet (at least it isn't cold) you could do a bamboo rafting day and also visit the turtle sanctuary.
If you haven't paid your accommodation you could look at moving to Phuket, it isn't my favourite place but at least there is more to do there when it is raining.
Ignore the rain, enjoy the warmth. While the rain stops (and in truth it is far from constant) walk along the beach and look in awe at what Mother Nature can dish up. We are staying at Moracea and walked along Sunset beach this afternoon after high tides and stormy weather. There has been a lot of reconfiguration and none of it good. A lot of work ahead to repair the damage.
Khaolak Local sightseeing trip.. there are many place to see in the local area as Phang nga city is more interest also
