Sunbed rental - Information only

For those of you not in beachfront accomodation and like to use sunbeds there are some for rent just north of La Own Khao Lak resort -150B per chair - they also have cold drinks etc available - they seem to be situated in some sort of vacant land. (I am not sure how you accessd the area but it is about a 10min walk along the beach from Nanthong Bay Resort). In addition to that Coconuts Restaurant (Next to Nanthon Beach Resort) have beds you can use if you buy food/drink but they are cramped together. There are people on the beach selling an air bed type thing that seems popular.

It's still incredibly cheap in Spain last year we paid 18 euros for 2 sunbeds for a day. So £3 is nothing.

The airbed mentioned was very popular on the beaches of Koh Samui during my visit this year-you could buy one for about 400Bhat(haggling skills required) -to inflate, you basically waft the material in the air and it fills with air, then you roll up the end which compresses the air giving you an 'airbed'.

Tho,Iwas quite happy on the sand with a towel,so did not use.

These businesses next to La Own may be gone any day. They have been removed three times since the more permanent structures were removed during the last Wet Season. Some are located on public beach which is illegal and others are not located legally on non public land and the restaurants/bars do not have any sanitation facilities. They are temporary structures more easily dismantled in their game with the authorities.

There are places on the northern beaches where loungers/lounges/sun beds, however different people call them, are rented legitimately beyond the line marked out by the authorities as public beach.
