Booking Return Flight

Am just about to book flight DPS to LOP and we are leaning towards just booking flight over (Lion Air), leaving return flight to be organised from Lombok.

How easy & sensible is this to do?

My head says book return but we are staying at Qunci and are thinking we may not want to leave or head over to one of the islands bafore we head back.

Any one done this and know the lastest we should leave booking return flight ?

Thanks

Hi Wendy - Lion Air have quite a few daily flights back to Denpasar. You can also fly the late afternoon flight with Garuda. There are other airlines, but we have only flown, or are flying, these 2. Flights are cheap, but the promotional airfares are non-refundable (I think)

What month are you going, as if it's high season, it might be a little more difficult to book a flight that suits at short notice.

Cheers,

Sandy

Hi Sandy

We arrive in Bali April 29th, staying Sanur Beach Villas for 2 nights, then over to Lombok for 5 nights. So, not really high season yet.Promo fairs on Lion Air seem N/A but as you say not expensive. Did you book your flights on line as some people seem to have trouble when it comes to CR Card being acepted.

Anyway, we have 5 nights after that and were thinking we would keep our options open but I am starting to think we will just head back to Sanur and use that as a base for day trips or just stay put.

Was keen to head to Candidasa & Amed as well as haven't been that side yet. Too many decisions

Cheers

AU cards are normally OK with Lion Air.

Their website has been behaving strangely in the last two weeks.

If you encounter issues then try a different computer.

It seems to have been fixed as it was OK today.

Normally the best LionAir pricing is available 5-14 days out from the flight.

You will normally find Garuda a lot more expensive, but sometimes not.

Seats can get limited and prices may rise to the higher ticket categories close to flight date.

You can use Bidy Tour's satellite office in Senggigi for ticketing once on Lombok, or buy online.

It will cost around Rp13,500 to the office in a taxi and is in the central Senggigi township area next to a small supermarket, ATM and a boutique.

Qunci is about 1hr 15 minutes from the airport by taxi, and around Rp150,000 on the meter (+Rp17,500 Airport Taxi Service Charge if using a taxi to leave the airport).

Be cautious of the weather with the Fastboats.

If you get a promo fare expect to pay around Rp250,000 for the ticket.

If you were flying tomorrow you could by a ticket now for Rp246,000-290,000.

Airport PSC (Passenger Service Charge) is Rp40,000 departing DPS, Rp25,000 departing LOP.

I note that Lion (operated by Wings) is currently offering seats in the price range Rp268,000-403,000 for DPS-LOP Wed 1 May 2013.

Hi Wendy we went over to lombok from bali in January and the flight was only 130 000 rupiah booked online on garudas website with a mastercard and it did take about a week to get a booking number even though the transaction wet through straight away on the card.It was a promotional airfare but we could make changes and pay the difference.

That is an unusual price.

Normally the minimum is around Rp200,000.

Sky Aviation are frequently near that figure (though at present their tickets seem to have a Rp250,000 base), as are Merpati (Promo-Rp203,500).

Only Garuda provides a 20kg included baggage allowance, the others are 15kg included. Cabin bags need to be kept small due to smaller overhead lockers in the regional turboprops used by all but Garuda, they use a 737-800NG on the route.
