Hi, I am looking for one of the best places to visit around bangalore for one day. Maximum distance from bangalore to be within 150 km.
Karnataka State Tourism Developement Corp runs daily sight-seeing trips to Mysore . This trip starts at 630 IST and reaches Bangalore at 2300 IST. approx 800/- in A/C Volvos and 650/- in Non A/C buses.
You will visit...Tipu Sultans Fort at Srirangapatna, Sri Ranganatha Swamy Temple, Mysore Palace,Summer palace of Tipu St. Philomena's Church, Chamundi Hills, Zoo, Brindavan Gardens etc. worth visiting.
you can try the Belur Halebidu Sharvanabelagola trip which is also a 1 day trip and KSTDC charges 900 approx in Volvos. this is also worth visitng.
if you dont want to go for a conducted tour...then you can try Balmuri and and Edmuri water fall or Nandi Hills which are also closeby.
Also check tripadvisor.in/Attraction_Review-g297627-d14… if you are into bird watching.
When we were in Bangalore we visited Mysore for the day. It was a wonderful trip and the palace there is amazing and worth a visit.
Just mentioning though that the place seems to be full of very rude people. They'll roughly shove you out of the way and give you a good elbow in the ribs so that they can get in front of you in the queue. Really charming people.
I am Blorean. I love travelling in week-ends...
