Shortest route to manali- Delhi - chakki bank or Chandigarh

I wish to travel to manali & shimla during Dec 1st. Grateful if any of you could advise below queries :-

1)Which is the shortest route to reach Manali from Mumbai? From Chakki bank to Manali or Delhi to Manali. If chakki bank to manali is shortest are there good hotels in chakki bank to take rest for 1 day and then start for Manali. Also how about availability of taxi / car for travelling from chakki bank?

2)1st week of Dec would be chilly. Is it advisable to take my 10 year old son.

Please advise

If you are coming from Delhi then Delhi-Manali direct is the shorter route, no need to go through Chakki Bank.

HPTDC Volvo is best for this journey.

Yes December will be chilly, but with woolens you can manage it and have fun....

Via delhi your route will be delhi-ropar-further the default route to manali so technically you need not even go to chandigarh (if drivin in your personal vehicle/taxi).

Yeah, you can take your kid with you just make sure you carry good light wt. warm clothes and rain protection gear.

cheers!
