Indian Visa - new rules for photos

Hi

If you are filling in the new visa applications, beware that passport size photos are not accepted. They need to be 2" x 2". Ours got returned and we have to resubmit.

That's a good reminder for anyone about to apply for their visa, Sue.

The rules on photos changed late November 2010, I believe.

There's all sorts of specifications about background etc on the VFS website.

The application form changed too, and the VFS admin charge also increased at the beginning of January because of the VAT increase.

The new photo size of 2"x2" has been specified on this forum since they were changed on 23rd November, although VFS Global did allow a couple of weeks grace. So regardless of how many visas or how many times people have visited Goa, they require the new size photos.

At the moment the turnaround for postal delivery visas is quite quick.

Hopefully, barring any more problems, you might get it back by a week tomorrow or sooner with any luck.

We got ours done yesterday at Max Speilmann £5.99 for 6 photo's, our local photographer wanted £4 per photo!! at least we now have photo's for the next 2 years as well, that is if they don't move the goalposts again.

I used Timpson's 6 photos £5.99 too, I had one place quote £25 for 2! My visa took 8 working days from posting to receiving it back.

Still waiting for the return of my most probably rejected passport, the ten working days is nearly up! And my arrival in India is only two weeks away!

Bluemarshmallow, 10 working days is only a guideline, alot can depend on how long the turnaround time takes. It can be longer than 10 working days and it can be shorter.
