dress codes

Hi All, off to Indiain 2 days.

Just wondering are there any dress codes in goa shacks/bars/clubs that say you must wear shoes and jeans or are these places relaxed and you can wear shorts and flip flops.

Thanks

Hi you will find goa is not a place to take your sunday best!the roads are dusty and dry and has a redish orangey colour to it.Smart shorts and flipflops are fine in the evening.Do not wear high heels or white linen trousers etc.

I made that mistake the first time i ever went, what a fool i looked,no-one gives you a second look as to what you are wearing but don't go flashing flesh in the evening as the mozzies may take a shine to you.

As Goaaddict says there is no real dress code...unless you go to the casino boats where you would need to waer shoes (flipflops not allowed) or 5star hotel like the Marriot for a meal... and then you would just dress smart casual

Otherwise literally anything goes/anywhere :-) ...well apart from nudity!!!

I think rule of thumb is shorts and t-shirts for daytime, keep bikinis and swimwear strictly for the beach, then on an evening smart casual. My OH always wears long trousers in the evening but that's so he doesn't get bitten.

And ladies, please don't go 'topless' on the beaches, it is offensive to the Indians.

You can certainly pack light for Goa, definitely no need for dresses there.
